The underlying volume of this piece represents a major change in the way I work through the early stages of any piece. It comes down to understanding how to work to the edge of the stock rather than sacrificing material to edge-waste.

The chasing is spot on. The balances of line, texture contour and reflective qualities is excellent. Execution of the high relief separation and maintenance of the underlying curve is very, very, good. There is something about chasing out something that actually casts a shadow across the surface of the piece that brings me happiness. It is this shadow that allows the design to stand out within gold’s luster.
